Multiple Pages per Sheet
Put 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 or 16 PDF pages on each sheet to save paper.
How do I print multiple PDF pages on one sheet of paper?
To print multiple pages per sheet, upload your PDF, choose how many pages go on each sheet (2, 4, 6, 8, 9 or 16) and click Create PDF. You get a new document with the pages already laid out in a grid, ready to print with any printer. It is free, with no signup and no watermark. Everything runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded to a server and your lecture notes, contracts or work documents stay on your device. Pages are placed as vectors rather than screenshots, so text stays sharp and you can still select, copy and search it. You control the reading order, the sheet size (A4, Letter or the original size), the margin, the gap between pages and an optional border. It saves paper and ink, and it works on any device without installing anything.
How to use Multiple Pages per Sheet
- Click or tap the upload area and choose your PDF, or drag it in. It is not uploaded anywhere: it is read inside your own browser. If it is password protected, remove the password first with /unlock.
- Pick how many pages you want on each sheet: 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 or 16. With 2 and 8 per sheet the sheet turns landscape automatically when your pages are portrait, so each page gets a better share of the space.
- Choose the reading order: horizontal in a Z pattern (1 2 / 3 4) or vertical in an N pattern (1 3 / 2 4). Then set the sheet size (A4, Letter or same as the original), the margin, the gap between pages and whether to draw a thin border around each one.
- Check the layout sketch of the first sheet, which updates as you change any option, and click Create PDF.
- Look at the preview of the real first sheet, download the PDF and print it. In the print dialog choose 100% or Actual size scaling, so the printer does not shrink the pages a second time.
Common use cases
Print lecture slides and study notes on less paper
A 60-slide PDF at 6 per sheet becomes 10 sheets. It is the classic way to print course slides, handouts and exam prep material without burning through a ream of paper.
Proofread a long document without printing every page at full size
At 4 or 9 per sheet you can see the whole structure of a contract, manual or report at a glance, mark corrections by hand and then decide which pages deserve a full-size print.
Cheat sheets and quick-reference cards
Pack 16 pages of formulas, summaries or keyboard shortcuts onto one double-sided sheet. With borders switched on, every page is clearly outlined and easy to scan.
Cut ink and toner costs in the office
Internal drafts, long email threads saved as PDF and meeting minutes rarely need one page per sheet. Printing them at 2 or 4 per sheet reduces paper and toner use without changing the content.
Decide between a grid layout and a real booklet
If you want to fold and staple the sheets into a small book, use /booklet instead, which reorders pages for double-sided printing. To keep the output black and white and save color ink, run the result through /grayscale-pdf.
Frequently asked questions
How do I print 2 or 4 pages per sheet from a PDF?
Upload the PDF here, choose 2 or 4 per sheet and click Create PDF. You download a new document where each sheet already holds several pages, so you print it with your printer's normal settings instead of relying on the layout options in your PDF viewer.
Do I lose quality, and can I still select the text?
You do not lose quality. Pages are embedded as vector content, not as screenshots, so text stays sharp at any zoom and you can still select, copy and search it. The only change is the size of each page, which is scaled down to fit its cell.
What is the difference between horizontal (Z) and vertical (N) order?
Horizontal order fills each row from left to right and then moves down: 1 2 on top, 3 4 below. Vertical order fills column by column: 1 and 2 in the first column, 3 and 4 in the second. Pick the one that matches how you read the document.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is processed entirely in your browser and is never sent to a server or stored anywhere. That makes it a safe choice for private documents.
Does it work if some pages are rotated or have a different size?
Yes. Each page is scaled to fit its cell without distortion and centered, and pages stored rotated by 90 or 270 degrees are placed upright. The output sheet is sized from the first page, so pages that differ a lot from it will show wider margins.
What if my PDF has a password or restrictions?
The tool detects it and tells you instead of producing a broken file. Remove the protection with /unlock and come back. To arrange pages in booklet order for folding and stapling, use /booklet, and to combine several files before printing, use /merge.
