PDF to Excel Converter
Extract the tables from a PDF into an Excel (.xlsx) file with real numbers and dates.
What to expect
It works on text PDFs (the ones where you can select the text with the cursor). Tables are found by where the text sits, so borderless tables work too. Check the preview: a table with merged cells or a very irregular layout may come out with shifted columns, and a table where every column holds long sentences (over about 45 letters or 8 words per cell) is treated as running text and not detected.
How do I extract a PDF table to Excel with real numbers?
To extract a PDF table to Excel, upload the file to this page, click “Find tables”, check the preview and download the .xlsx: each table goes to its own sheet, or all of them to a single sheet if you prefer. The point is that amounts, percentages and dates arrive as real Excel cells rather than text, so you can sum, sort and filter without any cleanup. It understands formats like 1,234.56, 1.234,56, $450.00, (1,200.00) and 15/09/2026. Detection uses the position of the text, so it also works with bank statements and invoices that have no borders. Everything runs in your browser: the PDF is never uploaded, it is free and needs no signup. It works on text PDFs; a scan would need OCR first.
How to use PDF to Excel Converter
- Drag the PDF onto the drop zone or click to pick it. If it has an open password, type it in the optional field.
- Click “Find tables”. The tool reads the text on every page and locates the tables, with or without borders.
- Choose how you want the Excel file: one sheet per table or everything on one sheet, and whether to join tables that continue on the next page with the same header.
- Check the preview. Numbers appear right-aligned and dates already converted; if the decimal format is wrong, change it in the list.
- Click “Download .xlsx” and open it in Excel, LibreOffice or Google Sheets.
Common use cases
Move a bank statement into Excel to reconcile it
Date, description, debit, credit and balance land in separate columns, with amounts as numbers and dates as dates. If the statement spans several pages with a repeated header, it is joined into one table.
Capture invoice line items without retyping them
The line-item table becomes rows and columns with numeric quantities and amounts. Subtotal, tax and total come out on their own rows, not glued to the last item.
Analyze a sales or expense report you received as a PDF
Bring the figures into Excel to build charts, pivot tables or regional totals, without copying and pasting cell by cell.
Collect the data from several tables in one PDF
With one sheet per table, each chart of the report stays separate under its own sheet name. If you would rather compare them, pick everything on one sheet and they are stacked.
Handle financial or personal data without uploading it
Statements, payslips or customer lists are processed on your own machine. There is no queue and no copy on any server.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a bank statement PDF to Excel?
Upload the PDF, click “Find tables” and download the .xlsx. Bank statements usually have columns lined up with spaces and no borders, and the tool detects them by the position of the text. If the table continues over several pages with the same header, leave the join option on to get a single table with every transaction.
Do the numbers come out as numbers or as text?
As numbers. The tool recognizes amounts with thousands and decimal separators, currency symbols ($, €), negatives in parentheses or with a trailing minus, and percentages, and turns them into numeric cells with their format. Dates become Excel dates. Anything that looks like an identifier stays as text so it is not damaged: leading zeros, account numbers of 12 or more digits, and codes like A-1042.
How does it know whether the PDF uses 1,234.56 or 1.234,56?
It looks at all the numbers in the document at once. If it sees 1.234,56 or 12,5 it concludes the comma is the decimal; if it sees 1,234.56 or 10.25, the dot is. A lone value like 1,234 is read as one thousand two hundred thirty-four, unless the rest of the document uses the comma as the decimal. If the result is not what you expect, set the format by hand in the options list.
Does it detect tables with no borders?
Yes. Instead of looking for grid lines, it groups text into rows and looks for the vertical gaps that separate columns. That is why it works on statements and reports where the table is just aligned text. It is cautious: it prefers missing a table to inventing one, and it ignores the multi-column text of an article. It has a limit: if every column of a table holds long sentences (over about 45 letters or 8 words per cell), it treats it as running text and does not detect it.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Excel?
Not with this tool. A scan is an image with no readable text, so OCR is needed before tables can be detected. If the PDF is a scan the tool tells you instead of giving you an empty spreadsheet. When Docuboxer gets OCR, it will be the step before this one.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The whole process, from reading the PDF to building the .xlsx, runs in JavaScript in your browser. The file never leaves your device, there is no signup and no conversion limit. That makes it suitable for bank statements and other data you would not want to upload to an online service.
