Sign PDF
Draw or upload your signature and place it on any page of the PDF.
How do I sign a PDF without printing it?
Draw your signature with your mouse or finger, or upload a photo of your handwritten signature, then drop it anywhere on the PDF: the tool embeds it as an image and lets you download the signed file right away. Everything runs in your browser — the PDF never leaves your device or touches a server — and there's no account or install required. It's worth being upfront about what you get: this is a simple electronic signature (an image placed on the document), not a digital signature backed by a cryptographic certificate. For everyday paperwork — authorizing a form, approving a quote, signing off on an internal agreement — that's exactly what most people need.
How to use Sign PDF
- Drop the PDF you want to sign and pick the page you need to sign from the page thumbnails.
- Create your signature: draw it with your mouse or trackpad on the canvas, or upload a photo or scan of your handwritten signature as a PNG or JPG.
- Click on the document where you want the signature to sit; drag it to fine-tune the position and use the size slider to scale it.
- Repeat on other pages if you need to sign more than one spot, then download the signed PDF.
Common use cases
Authorize an internal form or request
Sign a leave request, an HR form, or an internal approval without printing it, signing by hand, and scanning it back in.
Approve a quote or business proposal
When a client or vendor sends you a PDF to 'sign for approval,' you can send it back signed in minutes without leaving the browser.
Sign a lease or a simple agreement
For agreements between parties that don't require a certified digital signature, a clear, well-placed visual signature is often enough.
Reuse your signature across multiple documents
Draw or upload your signature once and place it on several pages of the same PDF — for example, every page of a long contract.
Sign from your phone or tablet
The drawing canvas works with touch events, so you can trace your signature with your finger straight from your phone's browser.
Frequently asked questions
Does the signature I create here carry the same legal weight as a certified digital signature?
No. This tool creates a simple electronic signature: an image of your signature embedded in the document. It doesn't include a digital certificate, a timestamp, or a cryptographic verification chain, which is what advanced or qualified digital signatures require. That's valid and sufficient for a lot of everyday paperwork, but for high-value contracts or documents that require a certified signature, you'll need a different tool.
Where is my signature stored after I use it?
Nowhere outside your browser. The PDF, your signature image, and anything you draw are processed locally on your device — nothing is uploaded to a server. Close the tab and your signature is gone; you'll draw or upload it again next time.
Can I sign a PDF that has a password?
Not directly — you'll need to remove the password first with the /unlock tool. Once the PDF is unprotected, you can load it here and sign it normally.
What image format should I use if I upload my signature instead of drawing it?
PNG with a transparent background. It sits cleanly on the page without a white box around it. If you upload a JPG, that format doesn't support transparency, so it'll carry its background (usually white) as a small rectangle around the signature.
Can I sign multiple pages of the same document?
Yes. After creating your signature, place it on the page you need, switch pages in the thumbnail selector, and click again to place it there too. You can repeat this on as many pages as you need before downloading.
Can I move or resize the signature after placing it?
Yes, as long as you haven't downloaded the PDF yet. Drag the signature on the preview to reposition it and use the size slider to make it bigger or smaller. You can also delete it and place it again if it didn't land where you wanted.
